I want to go to my first yoga class, but I’m scared I’m going to fart or something?

Just Me asked:


Can someone just tell me what I can expect to happen? If I can’t do the moves is the instructor going to yell at me? Also, I’m having a hard time lint rolling ALL of the cat hair off my black gym pants…….is that really gross?

    Yoga is not about yelling at people or worrying! It’s about moving in a way that is challenging but not painful for your own body, so everybody is at a slightly different place. You aren’t supposed to be able to do everything on the first day, and even if you’re really flexible already, the poses take time to know how they’re supposed to feel, so you probably won’t do them 100% right the first time.

    Get to class about 10 minutes early and talk with the instructor. Let him/her know that you’ve never done yoga before so he/she will be sure to show you how to modify poses. If anything hurts, stop doing it. If you get tired, stop and just sit cross-legged on your mat and focus on your breathing. Sometimes people do fart in yoga. It’s natural.

    It’s going to be harder than you think it’ll be, but you’ll feel great afterwards. If you’re still worried, why not check out a yoga DVD from the library or watch a yoga program on FitTV?

    lol, way to be worried about such a small thing. Just go there, stop worrying and try to have fun, who cares if u cant do the moves right.

    hi used to do yoga, i cant now because ive got a frozen shoulder. but with a good instructor its great. u feel fanastic and so relaxed afterwards. my instructor never ever shouted. she helped us get into positions or even modified the positions if we couldnt get into them.
    and yes, sometimes, prob nearly every session i would get urge to fart, i usually managed to hold it in, oronce or twice i just nipped into the bathroom

    LMAO, nah dont be scared, i just started taking classes at the local YMCA this week, i was also scared and never taken classes before, but it wasnt at all like i had imagined, u go at your own pace, some people been there longer than other, some are new like you, so relax youll feel way better after i promise, lol!

    well just go and if you fart well you fart it is only natural gass everybody does it.
