Yoga, Pilates Instruction Question?
Peaceful Dove asked:
I’m thinking about taking some classes in Yoga or Pilates and the thing is that I found out that the instructor has no certification/training, they are completely self-taught and yet they are teaching classes to the general publlic. Do you need to be certified to teach classes like this? It happens to be sponsored by a local historical/recreation type center.

if you have to pay money to take the class, then yes i think they should have some formal training of what they are teaching.
No, you don’t. Most gyms and recreation centers have, at best, people with weekend certifications. It would be better to check out a local Pilates studio, if there’s one in your area, where the instructor is much more likely to have hundreds of hours of training. It will be much safer and beneficial for you and will, in my opinion, be worth the cost, which is generally $10-$15 per mat session, more for apparatus.
yes they should have some document .
